CSIR Direct Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) 2026 | HRD Group New Delhi

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Group of COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH (CSIR), New Delhi invites applications for Direct Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) for training in methods of research under expert guidance in universities, IITs, labs and recognized R&D establishments across India.

CSIR Direct SRF Fellowship Details

Essential Qualifications

Any one of the following:

• Option 1: M.Sc./ B.E./ B.Tech. with 55% marks + 1 SCI Journal publication + 2 years post-degree research experience OR Ph.D registration
• Option 2: M.Tech./ M.E. with 60% marks
• Option 3: B.E./ B.Tech. with 60% marks + 2 years research experience
• Option 4: M.B.B.S./ BDS with 60% marks + 1 year internship
• Option 5: B.Pharm/ B.V.Sc/ B.Sc (Ag) with 55% + 1 SCI publication + 3 years research experience
• Option 6: M.Pharm/ M.V.Sc/ M.Sc (Ag)/ M.Phil with 55% + 1 SCI publication + 1 year research experience

Note: Candidates who have been awarded Ph.D./M.D./M.S./MDS or submitted thesis are NOT eligible.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 32 years as on last date of application
• Relaxation: SC/ST/PwD/Women: 5 years | OBC-NCL: 3 years

Stipend and Tenure

• Stipend: Rs. 42,000/- per month till PhD viva-voce or end of tenure, whichever is earlier
• Contingency: Rs. 20,000/- per annum
• Total Tenure: Max 2 years initially, extendable to 3 years. Combined JRF+SRF not to exceed 5 years
• Full-time: Cannot take any other remunerative job during fellowship

Selection Procedure

1. Shortlisting based on academic records, experience, publications and proposed research work
2. Interview by discipline-wise high-level expert committees
3. SC/ST candidates called for interview will be paid single second-class rail/bus fare

Topics: Ecosystem, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Chemistry, Biodiversity, Environmental Geosciences, Renewable Energy, Waste Management

STS – 71: Science & Technology Studies
Topics: R&D Management, IPR, Technology Forecasting, Innovation Policies, S&T interface with Society

TDR – 81: Trans-Disciplinary
Research transcending boundaries between disciplines and integrating knowledge from different fields

Important Instructions

• Apply in only ONE subject code. Code should match past education, experience and future research area
• Employed candidates must submit undertaking to resign if selected
• Office orders supporting research experience and Ph.D registration proof must be attached
• Those applied 3 times and not called/selected need not apply
• No change of code permitted after submission
