The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an innovative Dwakra Women’s Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme for the financial empowerment of women. In collaboration with Mepma and Rapido , it is providing subsidy ranging from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 30,000 on e-bikes and e-autos. 400 women in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam have already benefited from this scheme. Dwakra women with driving licenses are taking advantage of this opportunity.
They are earning Rs. 1000-1500 per day by riding an e-bike or e-auto with the Rapido app. They get Rs. 1000 for 150 rides per month, and Rs. 2000 as a bonus for 300 rides. The women say that this income is very useful for family expenses and children’s education.
